Atop a leaf patterned mat.

This cold winter night ushers in
Reflections of a flowery time
Home is where the heart is
When
Miles are numbered in journeys
Unending… I’m a visitor in these parts
Atop a leaf patterned mat lost
In thoughts of whys and wherefores
The good perish, the vile prosper
That man on the seat is a silly bugger
Wearing the oddest hat

Shield the blind from stumbling only
If sight is the gift you bring
Love
In death is nothing but a fairy tale
I mind the undead marking time as living
The splatter of little feet, sand kicking
Scorn the mindless platitudes
Fingers will tell, fables and stories
Of lying wonders,
Of contemptible men
Who having met a pure fountain, boorish
Piss in the still waters

I saw it first in a slumberous vision
Silver goblet of liquid wrath…
Dangling
Suspended in a twilight sky
Scorching drops on the blue-white cloud shed
Returns, rewards and recompense
In the other scene a thunderous blast
The throng helter skelter went
Wrapped in home made garbs of leashed
Terror
Unleashed in the estranged mind
Of an alien to the Maker’s nest

Walk the distance from that first metre
Before the bones grow weary,
Before
Night’s path cross and the way is lost
I call it a dream, this picture of heaps
Mounted body bags… By suicide
By fire… By corruption, by greed
A contrived reality brings depths of despair
The Divine bears down on us,
When gods we make of life’s pursuits
Man’s unending vanity!
